REINSTALLATION OF SRI JNANESHWARI Temple

Shri Jnaneshwari Peeth in the western coastal state of Karnataka in India needs no introduction to the devotees. Located amongst the lush green mountain ranges of the Sahyadri, Karki is located in the modern-day district of Uttar Kannada in the state of Karnataka in India. It is a religious and spiritual headquarters of Daivajna Brahmins.

Shri Jnaneshwari Peeth and Shri Jnaneshwari Math were established in 1986.The main deity of Shri Math is Sri Jnaneshwari Devi. Sri Jnaneshwari Devi is an incarnation of Parvati (TripurSundari). Sri SriSacchidanandJnaneshwarBharatiMahaswamiji is the Peethadhipati of Shri Math.

Within a short period, Shi Swamiji could highlight the existence of Sri Math on the national map by uniting and organizing the people of Daivajna Community wishing their welfare through Homa-Havan and various religious ceremonies within Karnataka, Goa, Maharastra, and outside. Every day huge numbers of devotees seek the blessings of Sri Swamiji and the Goddess. Developmental activities in the Math campus are going on in progression.

With the intention of constructing a new temple with granite sanctum, Shri Swamiji framed the following ‘Nutan Kattad Nirman Samiti’ during 2009.

The detailed plan and estimates of the Temple building prepared by Shri Abhijit Sadhale of Goa were finalized and the Foundation Stone of the new Temple was laid at the auspicious hands of Shri Swamiji on 09-12-2009.

The work was initiated immediately to complete the construction within 2 to 3 years. A deep foundation has been laid as the area is sandy and is made earthquake-proof. Very heavy steel frameworks are used and granite stones are used for building the foundation.

Goan type two-storied building with a granite foundation, 2′ broad laterite walls, round arches, pitched and tilted roofs, sculpture work all around are the specialties of the Temple building.

‘DhyanMandir’ is provided on the ground floor of the mammoth Temple.

Completion of a very attractive and modern temple without a parallel in Uttar Kannada district took almost six years. The cost of construction is about 6 crores.

Karnataka Government liberally donated Rs. One Crore to the Temple. At the appeal of the most humble, simple, and noble incarnation of godly thoughts of Sri Swamiji, devotees from Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra donated liberally. Members of the committee took keen interest and by visiting various places collected funds from the donors and well-wishers.

The temple architecture is an enticing sight of balustrades, domes, and columns. Three domes are eye-catching from the outside. Domes of all the 3 shrines are structured with a wooden framework and covered with copper plates. The ‘shikhara’ of each dome is plated with pure gold. One kg gold is used for this finishing.

The mandir stands, traditionally and symbolically, on the shoulders of elephants. Elephants symbolize strength.

The Mandirreaches  . .   feet into the sky, spans . . . feet in width and is . .  feet long.

There are three separate entries for the three shrines. On regular days, only the middle entry is kept open. It is one of the largest and most visited shrines in this land of sea and sun.

At the entrance, you will come across a seven-story octagonal deep sthambha or lamp tower.

It is rare to come across a temple in India where Shri Jnaneshwari is worshipped.

But for the wholehearted devoted work and attention at all the stages of the Temple by President Shri SadanandShet, and through the devoted efforts of skilled artisans and volunteers, it would not have been possible to extract this type of superior workmanship within the stipulated time. Shri SadanandShet spent months together in the Math premises supervising the workmanship and correcting them.

The traditionally styled complex building was Inaugurated and Re-installed by H.H.Sri Sri Sacchidanand Jnaneshwar Bharati Mahaswamiji with the blessings of His Holiness Shi Shi Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Bharathi Tirth Mahaswamiji of Sringerion Wednesday the 17th February 2016,ManmathnamSamvatsaraMaghShuddhaDashami.

It is an ancient Hindu tradition to perform pradakshinas or circumambulations as a sign of respect and prayers. The faithful walk clockwise around mandir to reinforce the belief that God should be the center of one’s life. Hence, a very spacious and attractive pathway is provided around the temple laying the interlocks.

Jnaneshwari Peeth welcomes people from all directions, backgrounds, faiths, and beliefs and teaches everyone to do the same.  Names of the Donors are displayed inside the Temple.

The whole premises of the Math is under CCTV surveillance.
